The quality of the jerrycans with a tap for hazardous liquids is generally a bit better. The taps supplied are sturdier, have a larger diameter and are equipped with an aeration channel. This way you can also easily drain thicker liquids such as oil.

If you use the jerrycan for water or food, make sure that the inside of the jerrycan is thoroughly dry before you store it for a longer period of time. If you do not do this, this increases the risk of deposits or bad bacteria in the jerry can. If deposits have formed, you can try to remove this by filling the jerry can with hot water and some table salt. Shake occasionally and a day later the deposit will probably be gone. Of course, rinse well with water before using the jerry can again.
